Many responsible charter vessel operators are greatly concerned over the activities of non-licensed operators whose vessels and activities present a significant hazard to the public, other mariners and the environment. Through fear of retribution or a desire to remain anonymous, many are unwilling or unable to report suspected illegal activity to the responsible government agency, Maritime New Zealand. For more detailed comment please see this editorial from Professional Skipper magazine. This site is sponsored by Professional Skipper magazine to provide a confidential conduit by which suspected or alleged illegal chartering activity can be reported. All reports will be investigated and any activity which is then believed to be illegal will be reported to Maritime New Zealand for further investigation and necessary action. The names and other details of those referring reports to this website will be kept strictly confidential. Whilst a name and contact details is required in order to establish bona fides, these will not be divulged to any other party. Anonymous reports will not, however, be investigated.
